XCOM's Winning Strategy

What we know about Enemy Unknown

Hoary old git that I am, I can remember the very first X-Com game, UFO: Enemy Unknown, from back in 1994. Like every strategy game of the period, I was awful at it, watching Earth fall time and time again as I sent members of my Year Five middle school class to certain doom. I was probably a bit young to be Earth's last hope against the threat of alien invasion, if I'm honest.

Still, it was entertaining and scary, two things that XCOM Enemy Unknown promises to be as well and I'm hoping to be moderately less awful at it this time around. There's definitely space for something more cerebral in amongst the slew of action games out this Christmas and after losing hours to Civilization Revolution (and that was just one game, fnarr) I can't wait to play Firaxis' 'reimagining' of one of my all time faves.
