Dead Space 3: Gameplay Video Tour

Undecided on Dead Space 3? Take this video tour of its best and worst bits, with spoiler-free gameplay from the first several hours. You'll find Ellie has gotten a new eyeball, Isaac has gotten new grey hairs, and the weapon customisation has gotten a microtransaction-centric makeover.

Since I first stamped my way through Dead Space 3, tricksy players have discovered how to beat the resources-for-real-money system with an item-spawning glitch. Life, as they say, finds a way.

But it wasn't the mere presence of a microtransaction option that ground my gears as much as the impression the crafting system had been overcomplicated to support that interface of in-game economy and paying real cash for extra stuff.

On the other hand, I was pleasantly surprised by how much time you spend exploring Dead Space 3's classic derelict spaceships. The optional missions, too, are a treat: self-contained short stories that unfold as you retrace the steps of characters usually long since shredded by necromorphs.

Are you planning on picking up Dead Space 3 this weekend? Have you been playing it already? Are you glitching free resources like nobody's business? Let us know.
