Watch Dogs' Open-World Gameplay Revealed in Video
Hack the planet
A fresh gameplay demo from Watch Dogs' futuristic open world was the multi-platform highlight at tonight's Sony PlayStation 4 conference. Watch it while it's hot.
Watch Dogs resembles a Grand Theft Auto game set in the near future, with vigilante protagonist Aiden Pearce hacking the electronic gizmos all around him - phones, ATMs and, memorably, rising traffic bollards (see 03:25m in the video above).
As with its E3 premiere, Watch Dogs also teased a multiplayer element that lets other players hack into the city of your game; the demo ends with another player attempting a hack via a security camera.
The game is destined for the Xbox 360 as well as Sony's new games machine, the PC, PlayStation 3 and Wii U. Expect a release date by "holiday 2013" (that's this Christmas, Captain British), since publisher Ubisoft says it will be available at launch for the PS4.
Could we see a cross-generation Xbox version as well? We do hope so. This one's still riding high on our Most Wanted list for the next gen.
