9 Shady Characters We Can't Even Believe Betrayed You: Commenter Edition

Published A year ago by Jane Douglas

Treason season

We reminisced recently about shady videogame traitors, then asked you to tell us about the heel turns you should have seen coming a mile off. You obliged. Consider the characters shiftier than a six-speed gearbox we still can't even believe betrayed you, the trusting fools we are.

Beware spoilers in the video above from Life is Strange, Metro Last Light, Game of Thrones, Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3, Borderlands 2, Dark Souls, Skyrim and the original Tomb Raider.

It's our own fault for trusting people such as Mass Effect's "Illusive Man", who was advertising his deceptive nature in his very name. The way he wears freaky cyber contact lenses and leads a paramilitary group named after a three-headed hellhound were also red flags, in hindsight.

On the other hand, when you meet a character with a name like "Trusty Patches", you would expect to not be tricked into falling down a huge hole, at a minimum. Trust no-one, eh, Dark Souls?
