8 Infuriating Side Quests You're Never Going to Finish

8 Infuriating Side Quests You're Never Going to Finish

A good sidequest gives you a break from the main game, doing something fun or interesting. Other sidequests, however, decided what players really wanted was optional activities so tedious or time-consuming that we took the optional part seriously and opted to never finish them. Here are eight of our least favourite.

Captain Andy Sets Sail For Adventure in Sea of Thieves Gameplay

Captain Andy Sets Sail For Adventure in Sea of Thieves Gameplay

Rare's open world pirate adventure Sea of Thieves is best played with a full crew of friends, so that's why I recruited helmsman Westaway and bosun Ellen from Outside Xtra to help with this Sea of Thieves gameplay fresh from the show floor at Gamescom 2017. Join us for treasure, bad skeletons and us almost sinking when we crash the boat into the island we're aiming for. Yo ho!

The 6 Coolest Things We've Done So Far in Assassin's Creed Origins

The 6 Coolest Things We've Done So Far in Assassin's Creed Origins

History experts agree there was less cool stuff to do in the past on account of how skateboards hadn't been invented, and yet even though Assassin's Creed Origins is set farther into the past than any Assassin's Creed game so far, there's as much cool stuff to do as there is sand in everyone's shoes. We've been playing in a sizeable chunk of the game's open world and are here to report back on the six coolest things we've done so far.

We Blow Up Cows, Fish in New Far Cry 5 Gameplay

Hope County, Montana is the setting for Far Cry 5, and seems like a lovely place. There's beautiful scenery, plentiful fishing, and wide open skies, perfect for flying planes around in. The main drawback is the violent doomsday cult members who keep trying to kill you, as you shall see in this Far Cry 5 gameplay.

Things Get Stranger in Red Dead Redemption

Things Get Stranger in Red Dead Redemption

This week in our ongoing Red Dead Redemption replay, we take a break from the main storyline to do some "Stranger" side missions. If anyone asks, that's how we ended up blackmailing a politician with sexy photos, kicking an old guy off his land, and chatting to a possible ghost bride about her definitely still alive husband.

Show of the Week: Far Cry 5 and 5 Good Dogs Who Deserve All the Credit

Far Cry 5 is back on the discussion table this week, as we talk about the elements it has taken from previous Far Cry games, such as outposts, vehicles and a charismatic villain. It also continues the series' focus on animal companions with Boomer, a trusty hound who is the latest in a long line of videogame Good Dogs, as we discover later in the Show.

8 Most Brutally Difficult Game Modes That You Will Never Finish

8 Most Brutally Difficult Game Modes That You Will Never Finish

Some games take the whole 'overcoming adversity' thing and crank it so hard the dial falls off, creating brutally difficult game modes that only the seriously skilful or wilfully masochistic would want to take on. Here are eight of the hardest modes that we will never, ever attempt, let alone finish.

7 Little Ways Games Used to Be Worse Back in the Day

In the age before day one DLC, season passes and microtransactions, things weren't always better. There are lots of other little ways in which games of yore were The Worst. Consider these seven of our least favourite of those still-not-forgiven game grievances in the following video.

We Exterminate the Exterminators in Hitman Contract Animal Rights Project

We Exterminate the Exterminators in Hitman Contract Animal Rights Project

Hitman's Contracts mode is a list of missions designed by other Hitman players. In this particular contract, we've been hired by an animal rights activist who wants us to take out a big game hunter from a distance, with a rifle, an ironic kill that echoes the way he kills his animal victims. Because our client loves all animals, large and small, they also want us to kill the two exterminators working to deal with the hotel's bug problem. See how we get on in this Hitman gameplay.

Dutch is Actually Quite Easy to Find in Red Dead Redemption

After all the trouble we had trying to find Bill Williamson and Javier Escuella down in Mexico, it comes as a pleasant surprise that our final target, Dutch Van der Linde, is apparently perfectly happy to come to us, choosing to attempt to rob a bank in Blackwater, directly opposite the building we go to to get yelled at by the FBI. Will we catch him in the act? Tune in to find out!

Show of the Week: Agents of Mayhem and the 5 Least Secret Secret Agents

Agents of Mayhem is the new game from Saints Row developer Volition, and stars a cast of agents causing a great deal of mayhem, hence the name. You might think that causing loads of noisy chaos would be detrimental to a career as a secret agent but then they're all doing it in videogames, as you will find later in the show.

Wait For the Drop in Hitman Contract Danse Macabre

Hitman's Contracts mode is a list of missions designed by other Hitman players. In this particular contract, we have to off three targets in Sapienza, in accident kills with a falling object, while dressed as a Renaissance plague doctor. Not the most subtle of contracts, but a lot of fun, as you'll find out if you watch this video.

Show of the Week: Fortnite and 5 Big Games That Started Life in a Game Jam

Fortnite is a co-op survival shooter game split into two phases: the construction phase, in which you build and fortify a base, and the defence phase in which you run around shooting monsters that are attacking said base. The idea originally sprung up from an Epic Games game jam, as is often the case with ingenious game ideas, as we discover later in the show.

7 Big Games Whose First Trailers Would Surprise You

7 Big Games Whose First Trailers Would Surprise You

As with any creative project, the final versions of videogames often differ wildly from their first trailers. Join us now, as we take a look at some of our favourites.

We Go on a Wheelchair Rampage in Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus

Sequel to Wolfenstein The New Order, Wolfenstein The New Colossus picks up after the events of the previous game. Because hero BJ Bazkowicz ended up a bit blown up at the end of New Order, he's been in a coma and is now wheelchair-bound. Hasn't made him any less deadly, though.

We Track Dutch, Get Shot Again in Red Dead Redemption

We Track Dutch, Get Shot Again in Red Dead Redemption

We've finally made it to Blackwater in Red Dead Redemption, which means we're hot on the tail of our old gang leader Dutch Van der Linde. Or, as hot on the tail as you can be of anything in Red Dead Redemption, which means we're first off to investigate a haunted boat. Still, we do catch a glimpse of our quarry in today's second mission, which is great, right up until the point where he shoots us.

Hitman's Final Elusive Target Has Silly Name, Face Tattoos

Hitman's Final Elusive Target Has Silly Name, Face Tattoos

The Entertainer is Hitman's 26th Elusive Target, and the final Elusive Target of the game's first season: a man who goes by the name "Mr. Giggles" but is much less jolly than that makes him sound. He's the face-tattooed ringmaster of an underground circus that features dogfights, bare-knuckle fighting and, if we don't do something to stop him, pandas apparently eating each other. Hit the jump to watch us track him down in the busy Marrakech night market and steal his nefarious client list in this Hitman gameplay.

Show of the Week: PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and 5 Most Delicious Other Chicken Dinners

Show of the Week: PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and 5 Most Delicious Other Chicken Dinners

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is like Battle Royale: The Game, dropping 100 players from a plane into an open world then seeing who survives the longest. Among its many attractive features are a shrinking map that forces players closer together, driveable vehicles, and the phrase 'winner winner chicken dinner', which is sadly just a figure of speech and not a genuine hot meal. There are plenty of other actual delicious chicken dinners in games, at least, as we discover later in the show.
