New Borderlands 2 Story DLC is Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep
On a roll
Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep, the new Borderlands 2 story DLC, casts explosives expert Tina as dungeon master of a D&D-like game called Bunkers & Badasses, and you as a hapless player at the mercy of her wandering imagination. Find out more from Borderlands 2's lead writer Anthony Burch after the break.
According to Burch, Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep has been great fun for Borderlands 2's writing team, letting them break the fourth wall and add fantasy enemies such as wizards, skeletons and orcs. Also, because Tina is controlling the campaign, it lets them "screw around with the player" whenever they want, locking off or opening up parts of the map at will, changing boss battles on the fly or letting you bypass puzzles if you get stuck.
It all comes from an affectionate place. Burch and the other Borderlands 2 writers are huge Dungeons & Dragons fans, and they saw this DLC chapter as a chance to counterpoint the usual condescending D&D spoofs. They also use it to needle aspects of nerd culture, such as debating whether the Game of Thrones books are better than the TV show or if there is such a thing as a 'fake geek guy'.
