10 Cheesy Resident Evil Lines They Rewrote for the Remake

S.T.A.R.S. in their eyes

The original Resident Evil is famed for its eccentric voice acting and cheesy lines. When the game was remade for the Gamecube in 2002, the script was rewritten to make it sound marginally more natural. We get these new lines in the 2015 version of the game, Resident Evil HD Remaster, since it is an HD spitshine of that Gamecube remake. Compare and contrast the rewritten scenes in the following video.

Though the original voice performances were clunky and weird, that was also part of the game's charm. The new performances are not so kooky, but retain a little of the awkwardness that made the first game so memorable.

My favourite character is Richard, the luckless S.T.A.R.S. Bravo team member who keeps getting savaged by various mutant animals. His performance in both versions of the game is a masterclass in soap opera death acting.
