Show of the Week: Shadow of War and 5 Times Sean Bean Died Tragically in Games

Published A year ago by Andy Farrant

Has Bean

Middle-earth: Shadow of War is the sequel to Tolkien-based hit Shadow of Mordor and whisks us back to the world of epic fantasy battles, bitter personal vendettas and unpronounceable names. The only downside is that anything Lord of the Rings-related instantly reminds us of Boromir actor Sean Bean and the many, many times he's died in various works of fiction. Keep watching for Mr Bean's dyingest videogame moments in this week's Show.

Of course Sean was going to die in the videogame adaptation of The Lord of the Rings, where his arrow-heavy final moments are no less devastating in PlayStation 2-era graphics.

But they're just as moving, if a lot weirder, in Lego Lord of the Rings, where the deadly Uruk-hai arrow is replaced by first a push broom, and then a banana. Aragorn is polite enough not to mention it.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War comes out on release date 22 August 2017 (US) and 25 August 2017 (Europe) on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
