Show of the Week: PUBG and 5 Games That Had No Plot and We Didn't Care

Lost the plot

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is due out in game preview next week, bringing its incredibly popular battle royale gameplay to Xbox One for the first time. Join us for the reasons Mike's slightly cautious about it, as well as a celebration of other games that, like PUBG, have no plot whatsoever, and are still great.

Because PUBG doesn't bother explaining the story, the setting or even the rules of a battle royale, it just kicks you out of the back of a transport plane and leaves you to work out how to survive for yourself. And yes, hiding under some stairs and quietly sobbing is a valid tactic.

But if you really must have a storyline for your head canon, just imagine the one from that movie, what was it called again? Oh yeah, Battle Royale.

If you do manage to make it to Vegas, you are awarded one point, and asked if you want to make the return journey. It is, with no hyperbole, the Michaelangelo's David of boredom.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is out on Xbox One in game preview on release date 12 December 2017.
