Mike is co-editor at Outside Xbox. His favourite thing about making videos is adding unnecessary special effects. He has heard all of your 'channel' jokes.
It's the final Show of the Week in 2017 and we're feeling all festive. We're also looking forward to the videogames coming in 2018 and we've identified 5 themes we reckon are going to be the new hotness over the next 12 months. Gaze with us into our crystal ball, why not?
Every so often game developers get bored of making their game and decide to develop a different, smaller game to put in the big game. These 'minigames' as us experts call them are occasionally brilliant, here are seven that are good enough to deserve their own game.
It's Day 8 of the Oxbox Xmas Challenge and Andy is stepping up to the figurative plate. And if you thought Andy had enjoyed lucky picks already with Red Dead Redemption and Friday 13th, prepare to watch the streak continue as he draws a flamethrower guy melee kill challenge in The Evil Within 2.
It's day seven of the Oxbox Xmas Challenge 2017 and I've drawn a challenge in WWE 2K18 that will take all of my wrasslin' talent. With a rubbish wrestler chosen by sports entertainment expert Andy, I'll have to beat some of the greatest grapplers ever to step into the squared circle. Can I send seven of them over the top rope in an eight-man over-the-top-rope battle royale?
It's Day 4 of the Oxbox Xmas Challenge 2017 and I embark upon my second Xmas challenge and draws Star Wars Battlefront 2. In this challenge I don't have to unlock Darth Vader using only paid loot crates, but instead must kill 50 Stormtroopers as Master 'wars not make one great' Yoda. That's as may be, but will war make me a point in this challenge?
After the unique performance I gave in Hitman Patient Zero while dressed as a clown, we thought we'd tackle clown-themed Escalation mission The Corky Commotion. Our mission? To head to Paris and smash fashion model Helmut Kruger in the face with a confetti-filled baseball bat. Sounds right up our boulevard.
Oh my gosh is it nearly Black Friday again already? The day of the year when the Dark Lord marches his terrible armies across the land? What do you mean it's about buying technology? Well then you probably want to watch this video and find out whether you'd be better getting a 4K TV or a 4K PC monitor for your Xbox One X.
FIFA 18 sees the return of The Journey, which follows the life and career of Alex 'Goal' Hunter. Unfortunately in our clumsy hands he's definitely more Alex 'Buffet' Hunter. In the Part 2 we're on tour in America and all we have to do is beat Real Madrid. Easy.
Normally games task us with something important or other that we're supposed to be doing, whether that's saving the world, scratching out a meagre existence in the post-apocalyptic wasteland or building a crime empire that Pablo Escobar would nod approvingly at. Were he not dead. Somehow or other we always get sidetracked by pointless but weirdly compelling activities that do nothing to push us toward our primary objective.
Sponsored Content: We're going to be pretty busy this November with the Xbox One X, and not just on account of how we must brave the tangled cables behind the TV to hook it up. We'll be busy playing new games optimised for Xbox One X, as well as games that are already out that will benefit from Xbox One X updates. Take a look at our Xbox One X to do list in this video.
It's all been friendly up until now, but Showdown of the Week saw Outside Xbox and Outside Xtra in pitched battle against each other in the three categories of violence, friendship and charades. If you missed the live show (and us) at EGX here it is now for your viewing pleasure.
Forza Motorsport 7 on Xbox One X is going to be a visually spectacular treat in 4K and 60 frames per second. We've played a few races in a preview version and here is the delicious 4K gameplay to prove it. How will we fare in a wet weather race with no traction control or ABS? There goes the no claims bonus.
After the almighty fuss when space battles were missing from the original Battlefront's initial release, DICE has a giant, space battle-shaped apology for you in Star Wars Battlefront 2. Behold the newly updated space battles in this gameplay.
In this second Wolfenstein The New Colossus gameplay, BJ Blazkowicz is now liberated from his wheelchair and has been roped into an ill advised mission to detonate a nuke in a secret Nazi bunker. First though, he'll need to ride the Nazis' massively OTT underground rocket train. Makes the tube look like a kid's train set.
Four years ago we made a video called 12 Evil Achievements For Heartless Bastards, which focused on the sort of achievements that moustache twirling ne'er-do-wells would be happy to display on their gamercards. Now, four years on, we have 13 more achievements that you should feel good and guilty about owning.
Mike plays a lot of racing games, but he's never been catapulted to 60mph from a standstill in under 4 seconds. So with Forza Motorsport 7 and Porsche at the Goodwood Festival of Speed it was time to remedy that. Watch on for Mike pulling some entertaining faces as his body is wracked by G-Forces.
Could this be the most ambitious game ever? Beyond Good and Evil 2 promises gameplay that stretches from the sci-fi interiors of buildings all the way to the stars. Here are the eight things you absolutely need to know about this extremely intriguing game.
With Xbox One X, formerly Project Scorpio, being the most powerful console ever built, it's easy to fixate on new games such as Forza 7, Anthem and Assassin's Creed Origins. But with the Xbox One X Enhanced program, some of your existing games will receive free updates for Xbox One X when the new console launches. Consider these eight games that will look immediately better on Xbox One X.
In this Crew 2 gameplay from E3 2017 we inspect the major changes in this sequel to the open-world racing MMO. The biggest? Cars that can transform into powerboats and stunt planes. This time you'll be racing around open world America by air and by water as well.
Need for Speed Payback isn't the first Need for Speed taking inspiration from the Fast and Furious action movies, but where 2003's NFS Underground cribbed the movie franchise's neon-lit street racing, Payback imitates the vehicular heists of Fast and Furiouses 5, 6, 7 and 8. The only thing missing is Vin Diesel torpedo headbutting someone with his finely polished melon. See for yourself in this Need for Speed Payback gameplay in which Mike drives and Andy is in the passenger seat.
Join us as we assault the palace at Theed in this Star Wars Battlefront 2 multiplayer gameplay. Taking control of the spindly Separatist droids from Star Wars Episode 1, we charge towards the palace in the capital of Naboo and start dishing out blaster fire.
The only way to deal with Batman supervillain Bane, the man who broke the bat, is apparently to "snip his tubes". Not our words, the words of Black Canary. Let's hope Green Arrow remembered to pack his tube-snipping arrows.
Superhero fighting game sequel Injustice 2 is here and Superman is still being a super jerk. It's like he can't let go of that time when the Joker made him kill his wife and unborn child, which then triggered a nuke that destroyed Metropolis and killed millions more innocent civilians. Pretty melodramatic, I think you'll agree. So how about we head into story mode and kick him directly in his superbutt?
Prepare to cry! The Dark Souls series is dead, at least for the foreseeable future. Where are we going to get our masochistic action RPG kicks from now? Well here are 6 upcoming games that promise to scratch that Dark Souls itch. You probably want to get that looked at, by the way.
As a first stab by DICE at a Star Wars Battlefront game, 2015's Star Wars Battlefront was impressive but flawed. Over two years of unending galactic conflict, fans have identified several infuriating elements of the experience and, fortunately, DICE has fixed six of the biggest offenders for sequel Star Wars Battlefront 2, which arrives in November of this year. Consider these Star Wars Battlefront bugbears that are fixed for the follow-up.
